Rambut/ Hairdresser

I've made this picture of a sign of a hairdresser several weeks ago, when I was traveling in Indonesia. I sort of forgotten about it, until I posted the other hairdresser picture. I love the smileys in the word potong. Potong Rambut means Hair Cut (haircut) by the way.

Hairdresser

This is a picture of a hairdresser in Kigali, Rwanda. I did not bring my scanner so pics it is for the following 2 weeks. But don't worry, plenty enough to make pictures of. And don't think this city is dusty, dis-organized or dirty. It is quite the opposite: it's a very clean, green, modern city. Lots of trees, no plastic rubbish. (plastic bags are forbidden throughout the whole country). Modern apartment-buildings and lots of big expensive cars. The people are stunningly beautiful and most men are dressed in very nice suits. Occasionally I see a woman dressed in 'traditional' african clothing. It makes me smile cause a textile factory from Helmond, Netherlands (my parents hometown) produces and sells all that textile up here. So what we think is traditional african is designed and made in Helmond. Funny world.

Queensday

A lot of stamps found on the streets of Amsterdam. What a great gift given by my sister! And I have a box full of double stamps left. Anyone interested? Send me an e-mail. Cheers Marike.

Ps they are numbers.
